Upgrading your chances of receiving better gems requires gold, which can be used to create special gems with abilities such as stun or poison. As for the monsters, there are different types including fast ones, mobs (with less health but more in number), and bosses. You have the ability to combine two identical gem types by dragging and dropping them together for even more strategic possibilities during gameplay.
