Atari Asteroids is an arcade game with a space theme that requires the player to control a spaceship navigating through an asteroid field, while taking care not to collide with traversing flying saucers. To successfully maneuver through the game, players must rotate their ship and use thrust movements. Destroy all the asteroids and saucers in sight but take heed of their potential danger as asteroids can break into smaller pieces or drift back from any side. Each destroyed asteroid rewards 20-100 points, complicating gameplay further when reaching higher levels where even small missiles shot by smaller flying objects target you intentionally.
