Mowgli, the central figure in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book tales, is a fictional entity. He hails from Seoni's Pench region in India and depicts an unclothed feral youngster who made his debut in Kipling's "In the Rukh" short story (included in Many Inventions, 1893). Afterwards, he became the most notable character among other characters featured in Kipling's collections: The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book (1894-1895).
